ENGLISH/LITERATURE/WRITING

 

IEW Writing Classes

 

This course will be taught at Manuela Brower’s home in Irmo

September 7, 2010 till the end of April 2011.

 

Tuesdays:

Level 1 - from 1:00 to 2:15 PM

Level 2 - from 2:30 to 3:45 PM (preparation for writing portion of SAT included in Level 2)

 

Wednesdays:

Level 3 - from 9:30 to 10:45 AM

 

These three levels build upon each other and are typically taken in this sequence:

 

Level 1 - 6th, 7th grade

Level 2 – 8th, 9th grade

Level 3 -10th, 11th, 12th grade

 

Public speaking skills are taught and practiced at levels 1 and 3.

Cost:

$35 per month (for 8 months).

(2 siblings= $65).

One time fee of $25 for the workbook (to be paid at the first class).

One time enrollment fee of $25 to ensure a place in the class. (due June 1, ‘10)

 

Objectives:

1. The students will expand their knowledge regarding various forms of writing such as:

summaries, book reports, narratives, descriptive and persuasive essays, research papers, etc.

2. The students will learn to write with clear structure and style.

3. Students will develop confidence in their writing skills.

 

Space is limited to 9 students per class.

 

Manuela has a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature and has been teaching this course for several years.
